The Solid South [APH Texas and CSA OCs] by sailorgreywolf The Solid South [APH Texas and CSA OCs] by sailorgreywolf
Happy Valentine's day everyone, here is my favorite OC couple in all their lovely country glory.
I really adore the two of them together, they have a lovely shared culture and a lovely narrative together. If you want to know that story, you will have to read my fanfiction Legacy. Anywho, I love these two as a couple, so I chose to do my first couple piece with them. I may do other couples from Legacy, so if you have any preferences feel free to tell me.
As for the title, it is a phrase that refers to the voting block that has existed since the Civil war that consists of the former confederacy and Texas. The two areas, though they are culturally different from one another in some ways are generally in agreement when it comes to politics.
Anyway, for those who are not familiar with it, Texas (Diego) is the half-Latino hunk and CSA (Annabelle Jones) is the lovely blonde bombshell. Both are my OCs.
Please comment, it is very much appreciated

Wow, what does she act like, because she looks exactly like my OC.

She is rather quick tempered when it comes to her brother, but she also has a softer side. She is very charming and sweet (think southern debutante), especially when she is dealing with people outside of her direct family. I mostly build up characters through narrative so they have many different layers, but consequently it is hard for me to explain their personalities in a coherent summary. The big way I develop her through my story is here relationship with Texas, who I do see as her husband in modern times. She becomes fiercely protective of him during the Texan war for independence after building up what amounts to very intense puppy love during a series of meetings and letters. She takes him in and cares for him after Mexico beats the crap out of him after the battle of the Alamo. She uses her influence with Alfred to force her brother into the Mexican-American War. During the Civil War, she basically is convinced of her own need for autonomy, but is basically knocked off her high horse by the end of the Civil War. She then lapses into depression during reconstrustion. I could go on, but this is getting a bit long.....like I said, I suck at summary.

No, this if fine! My OC treats Alfred and Francis like crap. (Francis for Louisiana Purchase reasons) She can be sweet too though, especially with Iggy and Mattie. I have it to where she used to be bullied by Mexico when she was little. She's also very protective of her states and steals Alfred's glasses a lot. XD She also tends to guilt trip him.

Ah, so our OCs are similar but different.
I have never been able to accept the idea of Texas as the glasses, it just doesn't seem  to work for me. Texas is fiercely autonomous and was an independent country for a short period of time, so it seems strange for Texas to just be an object.

Aflred-F-Jones asked to RP with me and our solution to that was that all the states can change their shape. An so all the states have some kind of item form. Texas is also an eagle eye and sharpshooter so we have our own little thing that he's the reason America shoots so well. But he's Dixie's reading glasses.

That's certainly an interesting solution. But, I am of the opinion that because Texas was an independent country for a time, he should have a human personification.

Yes, we have that opinion too. So he does have his own personification. The person I RP even ships him and Dixie. We don't have a set look for him, we just make him a dude that's good at shooting stuff, likes to hog tie people he doesn't like, and he's kinda pervy.

Ah, well that's vastly different than how I see Texas.
In my story, he is Mexico's younger base born brother and he was raised with the idea that he would always be subservient to his brother. As he and Mexico grew up, Mexico consistently used and ignored him and Texas became more and more resentful. This comes to a head after the independence of Mexico, which result in Texas attempting to secede. Once he becomes part of the Union, all of his insecurities swing back the other way and he becomes very arrogant as a result. He has a huge inferiority complex because of his relationship with his brother, and thus constantly talks about how amazing he is. He also has huge insecurities about race because he looks half-Latino, but can also pass as white. He chooses to be so racist because then he can differentiate himself from his brother. As for love, I see him as someone who has only ever had one love in his life, and that's Annabelle. He loves her deeply and unconditionally and will always side with her, no matter what.
